Tyler played basketball from a very young age and went on to play point guard for Worthington Christian. In 2008, the basketball team placed second in the Division IV state tornament.
After seeing a songwriter at a High Street club, he rejected a basketball scholarship offer from Otterbein University because he prefer playing music after finding a old keyboard in his closet.
In 2009 Tyler formed Twenty One Pilots and in 2011 Josh Dun joined the band.
In 2017 Twenty One Pilots win the Grammy for "Best Pop Duo"
